did you do a 'back-soak' afterwards to remove excess or loosely bound
mercury from the solvent space? a) doing so could help clean up the
Riso. b) if so, an X-ray fluorescent scan, which is routine before a MAD
experiment, should tell you if you still have any mercury in your
crystals.
