Dear all
        - thanks to everyone that replied to the question about how to
make up Imidazole:Malate buffer for the Stura footprint screen. The answer
is to make up the pH by mixing 2M stocks of the imidazole base and the
malic acid and then dilute. Some people report crystals in this buffer
that they could not repeat under any other buffer conditions.
        - one thing that has happened in our lab is that someone has
incorrectly transcribed malic as maleic acid in one recipe circulating -
which is quite a different compound!
        - otherwise I have no problem with this method if it gets people
crystals...
