                      ------ OUT NOW ! ------

The latest version of the CCP4 Suite for protein crystallography is
now available on the CCP4 anonymous ftp server (ccp4a.dl.ac.uk or
148.79.112.134 - cd pub/ccp4). The CCP4 Suite is mirrored in San Diego
at rosebud.sdsc.edu (directory /pub/sdsc/xtal/CCP4 ) and in Japan
at ftp2.protein.osaka-u.ac.jp (directory /mirror/ccp4/ccp4 ), but
please allow some time for the mirror sites to be upgraded to the new
version.

The suite is available free to non-profit institutions, subject to a
completed license form being returned to the CCP4 secretary. A
charge is made to commercial users who should contact the CCP4
secretary at ccp4@dl.ac.uk to make arrangements. Further details on
obtaining the Suite can be found on the CCP4 web site
http://www.dl.ac.uk/CCP/CCP4/main.html

GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE

    The Suite now includes the Graphical User Interface "ccp4i" as an
    integral part. Files reside in the sub-directory $CCP4/ccp4i
    Provided you have an up-to-date version of tcl/tk/blt, ccp4i should
    be ready to run after the normal CCP4 installation (ccp4i.setup has
    been included in the main ccp4.setup). If you don't have Tcl/Tk,
    there is a suitable version in the directory pub/ccp4/tcltk

AUTOMATIC DATA HARVESTING

    The programs SCALA, TRUNCATE, MLPHARE, REFMAC and RESTRAIN now
    produce data harvesting files for ultimate structure deposition,
    see $CHTML/harvesting.html for details. This code relies on new
    library routines; in case of difficulty see the --with-rxdispencer
    and --disable-ccif options to configure described in $CCP4/INSTALL.html

The release also includes the following new programs:

   * MOLREP: automated program for molecular replacement, from Alexei Vagin
   * OASIS: program for breaking phase ambiguity in OAS or SIR, from Quan Hao
   * RWCONTENTS: promoted from unsupported.
   * SC: program to analyse shape complementarity of molecular interfaces
   * T_SHIFT: part of ARP/wARP suite v5.0.

Other highlights include:

   * Major new versions of AMORE, RASMOL, SFCHECK, ARP_WARP (renamed
     from ARPP)
   * New library libccif from Peter Keller for reading/writing mmCIF files,
     held in $CCP4/lib/ccif
   * Other new libraries harvlib (for data harvesting) and cciflib (plays
     a role similar to rwbrook for mmCIF files)
   * Updated xdl_view library
   * More general documentation, see $CHTML/INDEX.html

Plus many, many minor changes....

Details of all the changes can be found in the CHANGES file in the
top-level directory ($CCP4), and in $CCP4/html/CHANGESinV4_0.html.
