Dear All,

New version of refmac (5.0.*) is now available in a beta test version
from
york's ftp site. It has following features.
1) New flexible dictionary. Protin is not needed any more.
2) TLS refinement (overall B values of rigid bodies)
3) New bulk solvent correction.
4) It writes refinement statistics to the output coordinate file
for deposition purposes.

to get the new version of the refmac either visit
http://www.ysbl.york.ac.uk/~garib/refmac/latest_refmac.html

or

ftp://ftp.ysbl.york.ac.uk/pub/garib/refmac_5.0.19.tar.gz

Or use york's ftp

ftp ftp.ysbl.york.ac.uk
login anonymous

cd pub/garib
get refmac_5.0.19.tar.gz

After gunzipping and untarring follow instructions in README.
In our experience statistics given by the new version is few percents
better
than these derived by the refmac4 or lower. Maps also are mych clearer.

Dictionary files are in wheerever_refmac/dic and html document is in
whereever_refmac/docs/refmac/index.html. There are example files for
various purposes in the examples section of the document.

There are tools to make new ligand description also. Best way is using
sketcher
option of Liz's GUI. GUI also has option to use new refmac (refmac5)
interactively.
It is in the york's ftp fite also.
