Hi,

as far as I know, solve can read mtzfiles, either merged or unmerged. :

readformatted
refscattfactors
LABIN FPH1=Frem SIGFPH1=SIGFrem DPH1=DANOrem SIGDPH1=SIGDANOrem
LABIN FPH2=Fpeak SIGFPH2=SIGFpeak DPH2=DANOpeak SIGDPH2=SIGDANOpeak
LABIN FPH3=Finfl SIGFPH3=SIGFinfl DPH3=DANOinfl SIGDPH3=SIGDANOinfl
HKLIN ../mad/mtzfile.mtz

Anyway, you'd better use mtz2various for getting ascii files from MTZ
files

hope this helps
