Hello,

For fun, try taking an old lysozyme crystal and mounting it in a loop.
Then look at it under a microscope and see what happens. I think that "dry
mounting" (without any mother liquor) is a bit risky. You can dry the
crystal out VERY quickly. 

One trick I use is warming up N-Paratone and mixing with water. I let this
settle over-night and use the oil fraction for cryoprotection. I was
expecting ice rings the first time round, but it works wonders with my
crystals! Just try anything!!!
