                 EMBL-HAMBURG OUTSTATION

TRAINING AND SUPPORT IN STRUCTURAL MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

The EMBL-Hamburg Outstation offers opportunities for training and
collaborative studies in Molecular Structural Biology within the context
of the X-ray crystallography, EXAFS and solution scattering techniques.
Facilities and scientific support will be made available for molecular
biology and biochemical approaches, sample preparation including
crystallization, X-ray data collection, data processing and
interpretation, model calculation and evaluation. State-of-the-art
facilities for these studies exist and include synchrotron radiation at
six dedicated beam lines.

This opportunity would particularly benefit those research groups wishing
to explore approaches other than those commonly pursued in their home
laboratories. For example, groups specialised in biochemical methods might
explore the application of biophysical techniques to their on-going
projects or groups focusing on biophysical techniques might expand their
goals into biochemical approaches. Alternatively, researchers might wish
to obtain advanced support in aspects of the technique they routinely
employ.

This programme is open to researchers whose home laboratory is located in
an EU country or Associated State. Visitors will be supported for travel
from their home institute, local accommodation and subsistence. Short
visits of any length of time are possible up to a maximum of three months.
Applications can be made at any time. An on-line application form and
further details are available under
http://www.embl-hamburg.de/advancedtraining/ihp.html.
