Yes, but it is realistic. If I have 100 observations, each with I/sigI of
0.5, and average them, then the math says that I'll get an I/sigI of about
5. The reality is that such a refln is virtually useless. My maps and
models don't look any better if I include such data.
And you know high redundancy helps with the I, not just the sigmaI.
