Having said that, the cheapest way to get a RAID is to buy a linux machine 
with a lot of IDE channels and stuff it full of hard disks. You can easily 
build a terabyte raid with redundency for under $2000 like this.

The software installation is trivial - you can now configure disks using 
software raid in the RH7.2 installation script. It's no harder than a 
non-RAID install.

I typically get about 3 months uptime from a heavily used Linux box.
