Rick Artis, Ph.D.

Dr. Artis has served as vice president, lead generation at Plexxikon since November 2004, and has more than 20 years of chemistry, informatics and computer-aided drug design experience. He joined Plexxikon in April 2002 as senior director of informatics. Prior to Plexxikon, Dr. Artis held escalating positions with Genentech, most recently as senior scientist and head of the structural chemistry group, where he was responsible for directing computational approaches to the small molecule discovery and lead optimization using data from structural biology and informatics. Before Genentech, he held several positions as a staff researcher at Syntex, where he had primary responsibility for implementing the company's first major efforts in structure-guided drug design. He holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Yale University.
