Michael Kates
Dr. Kates earned a B.S. in Chemistry from DeSales University in 1987. He was awarded internships at Wyeth-Ayerst in 1986, 1987, and 1988. He then studied Medicinal Chemistry at Temple University School of Medicine (1989). From 1989 to 1991 Dr. Kates was employed at Dupont Merck/E.I. Dupont. During this time Dr. Kates was given the E.I. Dupont Accomplishment Award, in part due to his development of a lead compound designed as a delta opioid selective enkephalin beta-turn mimetic.
Dr. Kates obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Villanova University in 1996 and went on to work as a Post Doctoral Research Associate at Brown University in 1997. He has co-authored numerous papers and contributed talks.
Before coming to ASDI Dr. Kates was Executive Vice President at another Delaware-based Contract Research Organization, managing up to 40 chemists and managers with regard to all aspects of synthesis and client interaction.
Dr. Kates joined ASDI Inc. in February 2004 and shares responsibility for the design and development of ASDI libraries, fragment-screening collections, marketing, and new business development.
