MOLECULAR BIOLOGIST
Daresbury Laboratory
The Central Laboratories of the Research Councils, CLRC, is one of Europe's
largest multi-disciplinary research organisations supporting scientists and
engineers world-wide.

We have a unique opportunity for a Molecular Biologist to join the in-house
research team of the Structural Biology Laboratory (SBL) at the Synchrotron
Radiation Source (SRS). The SBL provides excellent biochemical and molecular
biology facilities for visiting scientists working at the SRS. The post will
bring molecular biology expertise to underpin the structural biology
initiatives of the life sciences programmes within the Laboratory. These are
centred around the techniques of protein crystallography, extended circular
dichroism, FTIR and fibre and non-crystalline diffraction. Daresbury
Laboratory is host to one of the six BBSRC Structural Biology Centres and
the recently formed NW Structure Genomics Centre. The successful candidate
will be part of a forward looking team of in-house researchers who progress
their individual projects.

Candidates should have a first degree in the biological sciences and a
relevant Ph.D. or equivalent research experience. A strong background in
protein purification and analytical techniques is also essential for this
post. Experience in the production of recombinant seleno-methionine proteins
and knowledge of over-production techniques will be an advantage. A high
level of motivation, good communication and organisational skills and the
ability to interact in a multi-disciplinary environment are key elements for
this post.
