To my knowledge ALL graphics cards supported by Linux and X will work
although, obviously, some will work better than others. The real bottleneck is
however the horizontal refresh rate of the monitor. So I don't think you have
to go for the most expensive graphics cards, unless you also want to play
games.

The tweaks of the Geforce cards are mentioned on the PyMol website but they
use a completely different set of glasses as far as I understood. The good
part is that PyMol with those glasses can run stereo-in-a-window instead of
the above-below stereo NuVision gives you.
