To clarify, I am still a fan of OS X operating system, but my opinion of
their dual processor hardware is something we all need to be very
cautious about, given widespread reports of processor problems. I am
hoping they will try to keep their customers satisfied, and academics
are among their most loyal market-share.

Having said that, maybe we should be lobbying them to put OS X on intel
or other PC hardware as an alternative to developing stereo for the mac
computer. (Rumors persist that this currently exists.) I believe there
is currently an intel port of Darwin, the BSD-part of OS X. I've not
tried it on my PCs because currently it is a lot easier for me at least
to install and to use crystallogrpahy programs with Red Hat Linux 7.2
than it is with Darwin/OS X.
