There actually IS a way to run stereo 
on an LCD system, though not the same
way as one does on a CRT. A few years
ago now, I saw a prototype laptop with 
LCD screen treated so that alternate
pixel lines rotated polarized light. The
resolution of the display is reduced 
by half, but it works well and uses 
only passive glasses. The company VREX
markets this kind of solution. They can
actually retrofit commercial LCD 
displays to work this way I believe.
