The FBLD series of meetings began in Spring 2008. A number of the scientists involved in the early days of fragment based discovery recognised the need for a dedicated, non-commercial meeting. Vicki Nienaber was helped by Mary Canady to organise the first meeting in San Diego (when Rigaku ActiveSight existed) with input from Dan Erlanson, Rod Hubbard, Wolfgang Jahnke, Harren Jothi and others. Rod Hubbard then organised the FBLD2009 meeting in York and has overseen the organisation since then. The meeting has been held every 2 years since then, with the major organisation handled locally, with University of York providing support. Tim Kirk of York helps with the website.
